As Scholarly Communication Librarian, Sarah Hare (formerly Crissinger) collaborates with subject librarians, the IU Press, and Library Technologies to educate and advise the campus community on open access and related issues. She also serves as liaison to IU’s Office of Scholarly Publishing.

Sarah’s research focuses on scholarly communication outreach to undergraduate students and Open Educational Resources (OER). She frequently writes and presents on OER and open pedagogy, including “A critical take on OER practices: Interrogating commercialization, colonialism, and content” in In the Library with the Lead Pipe, an open access, open peer reviewed online journal. Sarah also teaches an eight-week Library Juice Academy course, “Introduction to Open Educational Resources,” for library and information professionals worldwide.

Prior to joining the IU Libraries in 2017, Sarah served as Information Literacy Librarian at Davidson College, where she created open access programming and led two Open Educational Resource (OER) initiatives. She holds a Master of Science in Library & Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.
